rachelpants
I'm interested in using this workbook in manuscript form. It looked like there were several formats in the pdf. The manuscript sample pages looked like there wasn't a top line....right? Is it possible that there is a different format that includes a top handwriting guideline in the actual download? Thanks! silver
I don't actually have the workbooks for ELTL, but I do have a few Handwriting Through Literature books (same author), and you are right, they don't have a top line. They have a baseline and dashed midline. It's a good compromise between plain lined paper and top-mid-baseline paper. If your signature is up-to-date, my daughter is around the same age as your middle child and although I print top-mid-basline paper for her to use for copywork, she can handle plain lined paper when she does RLTL. So I would think that just base and midline would work if I tried it.

edeemarie
I have levels 1-4 of the ELTL workbooks and from what I have seen it appears that only the level 1 workbook is missing the top line. The versions I have of levels 2-4 all have regular 3 lines with the middle line dashed (unless maybe I have older versions and they have been updated since).
rachelpants
Really? Ug. I wish level 1 had the top line. I just bought it in pdf form. I'm planning on penciling in a top line with a ruler :-/ LOL.
ExcitedMama
I have the print book for 1 and there is no top line. FWIW DS just finished HWT K and it had a lot of exercises with no top line. I forget what it said exactly but I think something about variety for practicing.
FromA2Z
My level 1 had a top line but level2 doesn't. So I think it was a change with the upgrade. I was worried at first, but my ds did just fine. His handwriting has really improved as a matter of fact. (Whether this is due to the lack of line or simply maturity, I'll take it.)
