mom2jjka
Our family is thinking about vacationing in the Smokey Mountains next month, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend places to stay. We need a cabin (or hotel) that will sleep 6, and is reasonably priced. Thank you!
FlyingMOm
We just stayed here http://landscreek.com/creekside.html#.VZnj-ULdvUo for the second time. The creekside cabins are the best ones- we've stayed at both the raccoon cabin & the deer cabin. Bryson City is a super fun little town with lots to do- take a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain railroad, the Appalachian Story Telling Center, small Historical Museum, funky little shops, etc. plus all the normal fun mountain things to do- hiking, tubing, kayaking, etc. Cherokee is only 15 minutes away and we really enjoyed it- we went to see Unto These Hills and The Museum of the Cherokee was really well done. My kids spend hours & hours playing in the creek in front of the cabins- building dams and playing on the bridges that cross over it and climbing on all the little small dams & such. It's clear, fast moving & pretty shallow. There is a ping pong table under a covered area and horse shoe pits. We can't wait to go back again. plansrme
We rented a cabin from Jackson Mountain Homes at Thanksgiving. Many of their rentals (but not all) are in a cabin subdivision called Black Bear Falls that is right on the edge of Gatlinburg, maybe 5 minutes from downtown. We were there when there was snow predicted, so we wanted to be close to town; they also have cabins that are pet-friendly, which kept us from having to find a sitter for our dog. We really enjoyed it and would definitely rent from them again. That said, there are scads of options, as you probably know. JMH was quite professional, their rental office was easy to find, and the cabin was nicely maintained. Black Bear Falls is not isolated, but we wanted to be close to town and to hiking trails for this trip. Hope you enjoy your trip. The Smokies are amazing, and I am looking forward to going back in September.
