Last Supper

Recommended Posts

I read a book recently called My Last Supper. It was asking top chefs what their last meals would be...I like the idea and thought it would make for a great thread. So, what would it be? Mine would be a great steak (rare, sorry vegetarians) some good bread, a bottle of red wine, and some really great chocolate. :)

What a great idea for a thread!!!

Let's see....

fresh Maine lobster

grilled rib eye, rare

a salad that contains red leaf lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and dressed with Japanese ginger dressing

dessert? My mom's peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top.

:confused:That's a hard question. Depends WHEN I had to eat my last meal.

I think I'd have to have a LOT of stuff and I'm sure none of it would go together. I might pick up the book you mention for my dh, he's got a much saner approach to food and eating well than I do:

Chateaubriand

Lobster (with extra butter)

Olives - every single kind

Corn on the cob (with extra butter)

Some kind of spinach salad

Throw in some babyback ribs (unapologetic carnivore here - though I cook mostly vegetarian these days)

Halibut grilled with a hazelnut crust

Red wine

For dessert - I'm not really a dessert person - good cheese and fruit (especially plums) is fine with me.

:tongue_smilie::tongue_smilie:Now my stomach is growling.

Great question!

1. The best bread, cheese, fruit and red wine I could find.

or

2. Grilled Ahi with rice and perfectly cooked asparagus or some other green vegetable on the side. A nice Pinot Grigio to accompany. And later, assuming I have a later- not knowing when death would occur- I would enjoy a glass of port.

And for dessert- something chocolate. I will have to think about that a bit more.

Oooooh. This is fun. Am I allowed to change my mind later and post again?

Jo
