jmc1970
We are just completing IEW Intensive A this year (upper elementary) and am debating which IEW theme book to use for next year. What is your favorite IEW theme book (Fun and Fascinating, Ancient History, etc) and why? Thanks!
JDoe
Ancient history has worked well here, but have nothing to compare with. I think the key is to provide some material about which to do some writing, in order to practice the writing technique without having to think too much about the subject content. One probably could use any non-fiction material, but I find the scaffolding nice to have. Note: We have not used any of the IEW intensive, or other material of IEW, except I just got the Student Resource Notebook as it seem to tie in nicely with the Ancient History
fourisenough
We used and enjoyed the newly-revised American History this year. I really like how IEW incorporated vocabulary into the theme books.
Sew happily ever after
I used the newly revised Ancient history book this year and really enjoyed it. I think it would be an excellent direction to go after completing SWI level A. I also enjoy all things fun and fascinating.
aaplank
All Things Fun and Fascinating is probably going to be too basic for you, but it's a fun one. We really didn't enjoy Fables, Myths and Story Tales for some reason. Our preference was theme books written by Lori V.
mschickie
We just did the Medieval History book. I choose that because it went along with what we were doing in History. It was very enjoyable.
