BusyMom5
We are using RSO Biology this year, and I do like it, but I'm not sure if I want to use RSO's new Physical Science next year or not- there won't be any reviews until people have used it a few years, and I'm not even sure if it will be out by the time I need to purchase it. I'm wondering what other secular Earth/Physical science options I have? I'd prefer something easy to use, but still has some good labs with it. all4ramseys@msn.com
We really enjoyed the Holt text: http://www.hmhco.com/shop/k12/Holt-Science--Technology/9780547353760 There is a parent CD-Rom that has all the worksheets, quizzes, tests, lab sheets, etc. I don't have the ISBN # at the moment, but can get it for you if you are interested. TarynB
We enjoyed CPO Earth Science. Here's a link to their website with some free resources: http://www.cpo.com/home/ForEducators/PhysicalEarthandSpaceScience/tabid/308/Default.aspx. I bought a used copy of the student text and TM (helpful for the labs especially), and we did quite a few of the Skill and Practice sheets from their website. If you search here on the forum, someone linked to free PDF versions of the student text. We did the CPO labs that were feasible for us at home (there were several/many, as I recall) and also added in TOPS unit Rocks and Minerals, along with the TOPS supply kit (definitely recommended). http://topscience.org/books/rocks23.html
Upward Journey
We're going to be using Moving Beyond the Page, age 11-13 next year for Earth/Physical science. http://www.movingbeyondthepage.com/purchase/science.aspx Another secular option is Oak Meadow. They do Earth Science in 7th, and Physical Science in 8th. http://www.oakmeadowbookstore.com/Curriculum-c135/
Cottonwood
the MBTP science in the 11-13 level is super deep and thorough with lots of projects, experiments, jars of growing stuff. lol Be sure to buy the science kit so you don't have to source stuff. I haven't used it, but how about Elemental Science? We use the Chemistry for logic stage and like it. http://www.elementalscience.com/earth-science-astronomy-for-the-logic-stage/

Wendy Inman
I second the Holt Earth Science. We thought it was a great text. I bought the text, teacher's guide, and chapter resources cd-rom on amazon.
