How long for IV-induced edema to subside?

If someone were hospitalized for a week, on constant IV that whole time, and that person swelled all over with IV-induced edema (confirmed by drs as the reason for the swelling), how long does it take for the edema to dissipate? Assuming the patient is still quite ill, spending time either in bed or in a chair, with short walks across the room throughout the day.

Depends on the condition of the person.  If the body is in ok shape it can clear in a week or so.  If in poor shape it may not go down without pharmacological intervention. For others this becomes their new normal because the body has found that it can shunt extra fluids to those places.

Agree with Jean and Applethyme ,is the person still in the hospital?

The patient is home, in stable and improving condition though still quite ill. Recovery is expected to take 1-3 weeks, so currently this person is in bed, or sitting in a chair, or taking a short walk across the room from time to time.
