Young Adult version of Laura Hillebrand's Unbroken. Thoughts?

Unbroken has been my favorite book since I first read it. I just got a note in my inbox that Laura Hillenbrand was asked by teachers to make a revised young adult version. Amazon has it rated for 12 and up. I'm super curious about possibly getting this for my dd11 (almost 12). Thoughts?

My oldest DS is almost 12. The atrocity against the duck is probably the thing I would most like to keep from him, and I imagine it was left out of this version. Count me out if it's in there. For some reason, it was harder for me to read about that than the atrocities against people (which were obviously sickening, but I was prepared for that content). The duck haunts me, perhaps because the action against it was one of the hardest things the POWs had to endure themselves.
