tammyw
Unbroken has been my favorite book since I first read it. I just got a note in my inbox that Laura Hillenbrand was asked by teachers to make a revised young adult version. Amazon has it rated for 12 and up. I'm super curious about possibly getting this for my dd11 (almost 12). Thoughts? http://www.amazon.com/Unbroken-The-Young-Adult-Adaptation/dp/0385742517/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

tammyw
I would encourage my 12 and up youth to read the original... The thing is I can't recall if there was anything horrible inappropriate in it for her. I guess that means re-reading that huge book! Alte Veste Academy
My oldest DS is almost 12. The atrocity against the duck is probably the thing I would most like to keep from him, and I imagine it was left out of this version. Count me out if it's in there. For some reason, it was harder for me to read about that than the atrocities against people (which were obviously sickening, but I was prepared for that content). The duck haunts me, perhaps because the action against it was one of the hardest things the POWs had to endure themselves.
