JadeOrchidSong
Our safe eye subscrition is expiring soon. I wonder if I can use k9 instead. What do you think?
stephinsocal
I had all kinds of problems with K9--when the site went down, which it did regularly, we couldn't get any internet at all without uninstalling the dang thing. Our current regime, which is working well, is a combination of OpenDNS (works through the router, so for all devices at once), safe mode on Google and YouTube, and the various Google Chrome browser add-ons. OpenDNS blocked the website for my son's judo website, which was just about the level of sensitivity I wanted. (It was easy to add it to the whitelist, btw.) Chris in VA
We had Safe Eyes, too--why do you want to change?
mommybee
K9 has worked fine for me.
Okra
We use K9. It does a good job of restricting what we want to restrict. The only thing is that occaisionally there is a glitch, and we have to restart our computer. But, otherwise we have no problems with it. JadeOrchidSong
K9 is free, right? I also see people use Screen Retriever. It does not block anything. Rather, it records everything so parents know what their kids have done online. I think there is good out of it, training kids to self regulate and to run away from harm.
