...................
actually, you may be onto something!! A huge, well stocked library speaks to not only the overall affluence of the town but also the spirit of the town (willing to raise taxes a few pennies to further learning for all....) and it also speaks to whether the people value learning and education. In fact, it also probably speaks to the overall opportunities available for learning and children in general. Areas that have big libraries also probably have more classes for kids more things to do in general....but geared toward learning. You can go to almost any podunk town and find the usual dance classes..and a T ball team. But you can't go to just any town and find Mandarin classes, highly skilled piano teachers, art classes, music theory classes, math enrichment tutoring centers and classes.... That actually depends more on demographics of the area within the town. Math, music and Asian language classes cluster where there is an Asian concentration in a town. Even in my small city, some areas have everything and some have close to nothing. Los Altos library is relatively small but the population is affluent. Palo Alto has two small libraries (one is children's library and one is very near Stanford), two big ones and a medium size one. San Jose's biggest library in the city is actually SJSU's library but free for public to use. San Jose's median income differs by zip code as it is a big city.
