Hunter
Is there a website that has free scientist biographies? Public domain texts of older scientists are welcome too, but are there any websites with good downloadable content about modern scientists that is suitable for family style read alouds? Another dumb question. :)

Haiku
http://www.scienceheroes.com Really awesome site! They also publish a book called Scientists Greater Than Einstein. The goal of the website is to get students to read 1000 science biographies.

Do I need to sign up to access all of the site?
Haiku
I bought the book for Kindle. I think it was about 10 bucks. You can read the science biographies for free. If you want to keep track of your progress, you have to sign up, which is also free. To read the daily science biography, you click in the upper right hand corner where it says Scientist of the Day. Beyond that, I am not certain what else the site offers. I haven't browsed around on it in a couple of years. Btw, even though the book is not free, it is fantastic, and I highly encourage you to purchase it. I am in no way affiliated with the site; I just read the book and decided I want to be an epidemiologist when I grow up!

I'm really hoping some scientists put up some free biographies of significant length that are made to be downloaded and read aloud. I haven't given up hope yet, but I don't know of any.
