readwithem
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/5964005.html In Texas, home schools are considered private schools, and private schools are not regulated by the state. Oh yeah!:001_smile: God bless Texas!

Mom to Aly
This is interesting, thank you. I was shocked to see the poll the other day that, when I looked, had only one person who listed herself as African American. In our local homeschool group I have only seen one African American there, as well, and we live right outside of Richmond, VA, which has a very high population of black people. I was hoping it wouldn't be like this.
Jeanine in TX
I am an African-American who homeschools in Texas. I also used to live and homeschool in Virginia (Tappahannock & Newport News). Typically, I may only know one or two other African-Americans in the area who homeschool. I get the most support on the WTM board. I view it almost daily to read about other classical home educators.
