4ofus
Duke is offering EXPLORE this school year & I'm thinking of using it this year instead of SAT 10 for a 5th & 6th grader who scored very well last year. Opinions on the usefulness at these ages?
Crimson Wife
Depends on the student. Some kids need to move up to the high school level tests like the SAT & ACT by 6th grade. You could give a practice ACT and see how your 6th grader does. If it's too hard, go with the EXPLORE.
dauphin
Don't high scores on the explore test qualify for participating I the 7th+ search which uses the high school tests?
EndOfOrdinary
We are doing the Explore again this year (5th) as practice and easing into the concept of standardized testing in a schooling environment. I do not know how much actual new information we are going to get, but our state requires annual testing so we figured going with something which might be challenging (a little?) or timed (makes it more challenging for DS) so he could gain exposure. It seems like a good way to transition into the SAT or ACT which we are thinking for around seventh grade. In think the usefulness depends on what you want the test for: practice and exposure, or useful results.
