sweetpea3829
Thinking ahead in my lesson plans, I would like to do a lit guide around a holiday-themed (Thanksgiving or Christmas) chapter book or read-aloud. Suggestions? I've got on my list The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (currently screening, lol) The Nutcracker A Christmas Carol (of course!) The Family Under the Bridge The True Gift: A Christmas Story Any other suggestions? I'm thinking mid to late Elementary, plus middle school for in a few years. Farrar
I really love The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas by L'Engle. But it's more early elementary than mid to upper, though it could be an independent read instead. Cornelia Funke's The Night Santa Fell to Earth is cute and fanciful. I think there are better picture books than chapter books for the holidays. Like The Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and Molly's Pilgrim.

MrsWeasley
I, too, love Letters from Father Christmas! For other chapter books, we read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (since the Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve returning allows Santa to return) and The Dark Is Rising Every December. I'm hoping to try A Christmas Carol this year.
