Upennmama
Hi all, I finally decided to try Saxon 6/5 with my soon to be 4th grade daughter. When looking at the homeschool set, the newest version (green and yellow, softcover) looks to be selling for around $75. But I can get the second edition (more of a hardback, blue and white/gray) for much less. Are any of you experienced Saxon users familiar with the changes? Am I missing out if I get the older version? thanks!
scott777
In general I would go with the editions that Art Reed recommends: http://www.homeschoolwithsaxon.com/newsletterpage-2013.php#0413 Some people like the simplicity of the 1st and some 2nd editions but it seems you need to be careful not to mix them around the 7/6, 8/7 area. FriedClams
Yes. The one Art Reed recommends has the lesson number next to the problem number. If the student doesn't understand the question - it's fast to look it up. In Algebra 1 all the problems blend about halfway through! LOL!! AdventuresinHomeschooling
I ordered the third edition of 5/4, but then I picked up the second edition free at a used sale. I went through the lessons in the TOC, and it covers the exact same things in almost the exact same order. I think the second edition may even have a couple of extra things that it covers. I think you are fine with either edition.
