Also, the first two books are actually workbooks that are really hard to find, they are just called "The Blue Book" and "The gold Book," they are consumable so hard to find now. You can use the School Phonics workbooks instead, they follow the same progression.

Also interesting is the story of the old Open Court program and how it was driven out of the schools, which is very sad, it was good phonics with wonderful fables and folk tales.

Absolutely, kwg -- good times here too. :001_smile:  My older used the first few books, but I'll be HSing my younger this coming year and think the books will mesh well with my plans.  Thank you, ElizabethB!!!  

 

I had no idea about the workbooks or the OC mess -- thanks for info and link.
