purduemeche
We aren't able to get our boys (DS10, 8, 7, 7) into the LEGO Educational co-op this spring. If we buy simple machines, are they able to do the curriculum independently and still learn the science concepts? We know they would love it, but don't have time to add another subject to our teaching load right now.
abba12
Not sure, hoping to hear an answer, but could I add a second question? I always see lego in the context of a co op class, which makes sense as a fun social class, but we don't really have co ops here. If this curriculum isn't independent, is there any others which are, or could be used within a family without too much prep?
Starr
I think so if they read the directions. We had those sets and ds did them himself. I just don't remember the exact age.
Arboreal TJ
We have the Lego Education Simple Machines set with the Teacher's Guide. It's very doable as a family. I wouldn't turn a lower elementary child loose with it and expect them to grasp everything. By all means DO turn them loose and let them play after concepts have been introduced! My 7 yr olds have gotten a lot out of it.
