Just Another Jen
Finally found an art project my 8yo will tolerate. Turns out he loves paper mache. We made a volcano this week and now he wants more. Any ideas that will go with our year of ancients? His fine motor skills are lagging but this project was big enough that he didn't feel frustrated about the details. He also likes that sticky feeling. We must be opposites on the sensory spectrum because I couldn't wait to wash my hands. :)
dsbrack
Have you done Egypt already? We have a paper mache mummy lined up in the next two weeks.
Lori D.
Awesome! I wonder if salt dough maps and other clay-type projects would also be enjoyable?? How about this cool floral foam Great Wall of China for ancient China? Our boys made sugar cube pyramids -- one also made a sugar cube Sphinx! And then they made Lego ziggurats (ancient Mesopotamia)... More ancients paper mache ideas: Egypt: Bastet statue or Pharoah death mask? (see here) Or, a mummy and sarcophagus? (see here) Greece: Theater masks, of course... (see here) A Spartan helmet and shield? (see here) Africa: Drum? (see here) Masks? cintinative
How about a mask? A pinata shaped like a pyramid?
