PeacefulChaos
I'm trying to decide what we might do for history next year, when Link is in 5th grade. We started homeschooling when the boys were in 2nd and K, and started that year with SOTW 1. So we'll be on the fourth year of the history cycle next year (with Astro in 3rd and Link in 5th). So what would you do - have Link do SOTW 4 with Astro? Or have him do what is listed in the WTM for modern history in the logic stage (8th grade)? TIA! :lurk5:
FriedClams
My kids LOVED Veritas Preas self paced courses. LOVED.
Aurelia
I'd have him do SOTW4. It's designed to be used for 4th-8th grades, so he should be fine.
happypamama
SOTW 4 and enrich/extend as needed. So many 20th C resources out there, from documentaries to historical fiction. That's what I would do as well. We did ancients last year, using SOTW 1 with 2nd and 5th, and I just added supplements for the 5th grader as needed. It worked fine, and since it was all new info to her, it was okay that it maybe was a little on the easy side.
ErinE
I recommend SOTW4 as well. It is well written and definitely is meaty enough for a fifth grader.
