redquilthorse
I'm deciding what components I need for MCT. I'm not sure I want to do building poems unless it's really essential or just so awesome it shouldn't be missed. What has been your mileage with that component? 4ofus
I'm sorry I can't report but...our town level came in last week & my little boy (9) inspected all of the components. When finished he singled out Building Poems & said it looked so nice he was sure it would be the best. Fwiw we didn't quite complete Music of the Hemispheres last year, but he won't let it go. We'll be completing it before beginning the new level. He loves it. My other one is indifferent.
Chrysalis Academy
Sure you can. Do it how you want!! And (ducking tomatoes), I actually don't like the poetics part of MCT all that much. I know that's a minority view, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Love the rest of the books, though.
Chrysalis Academy
I thought it was good enough to do it once! I didn't love it either. We did it once, with Town, but I doubt we'll do the Voyage one.
Crimson Wife
Older DD likes it but it goes in one ear and right out the other. I actually repeated BP two more times when she did the poetry sections of "Figuratively Speaking" and Walch "Poetry and Prose Toolbook" and she still has only a vague understanding of the various meters and such. Penelope
Older DD likes it but it goes in one ear and right out the other.Yes, I've come to the conclusion that talking about poetry at that level in elementary is probably not the best use of my time, unless I end up having a child that is driven to learn about it and makes it a passion. We do lots of reading and listening to different kinds of poetry, though, and a little memorization. There just isn't time for everything.
