Looking for workbook like...

Wordly Wise K/1st grade?  Last year our umbrella school bought the program for us.  This year it would cost me about $75, which is not an option.  It doesn't have to be a vocab program either - could be any subject.  

 

Let me explain.  My DD (rising 1st) enjoyed listening to the stories, but she loved doing the workbook activities!  They were things like "I want you to look at this picture.  Now color the fuzzy sweater blue"  or "draw a circle around the boy who is helping."  I think it was a combination of 

 

1) visually appealing workbook

2) auditory directions

3) coloring/x-ing, circling, etc. and very little written work

 

I'm not much of a workbook user, so I don't have any idea where I can find a similar format for her.  I just know she was excited, nagging me even, to do the work! I'm all ears for suggestions!!

I have some following directions books like that. I think I saw some in the Scholastic ebook sale last time around (so, I would wait for another sale!).

Yes, the one is Scholastic Grades 1-3, called "Follow the Directions"

The other one I have is Grade 4, called "Following Directions Using and Ecology Theme". It is published by Instructional Fair Inc, in their Basic Skill Series.

Check Evan-Moor and The Mailbox. Evan-Moor has tons of high-quality workbooks...lots for various aspects of language arts. The Mailbox has some good stuff too.

 

We are using these two for vocabulary, plus several other LA books.
