DragonFaerie
DS does a lot of math programs. He does one lesson of either Dolciani or AoPS plus 5 problems in Alcumus, a few word problems, a practice page of fractions, and reads a few pages of Murderous Maths every day. He is allotted 90 minutes for math, and usually that's enough. AoPS can sometimes make things run long, though.
texasmama
I just looked at the amount of daily work. It looks more than one hour that ds can do. How long does it take yours? We tend to work until my boys get mentally tired. The time varies on that, but an hour at a time is a fair estimate. We have been known to take a break and then return later and do more math when they are refreshed. Math is one of our first subjects of the day. They have both begun to appreciate and enjoy the challenge of AoPS. We have done logic puzzles for many years, and this program is reminiscent of those in some ways. A similar skill set is needed.
