Summer Confession...

Our Barton tiles got dusty. :ohmy: This spring, we focused on finishing up text books, preparing for standardized testing and getting other things done. I told myself we'd work with my son's dyslexia program again over the summer. Today I worked up the energy to tutor my son. I didn't think it had been that long since we had worked on Barton, but the layer of dust told me it had been longer than I thought. I wanted to get through two levels of it this school year but we didn't. It's time to re-motivate myself.

We have kind of done the same thing. We're not using Barton but Reading Horizons. I had every intention of continuing through the summer but the snow melted and we got spring fever so things just got set aside. We are still reading and

participating in the summer reading program at the library, so I guess summer isn't a total loss. We're going to "restart" school after 4th of July and pray that wasn't too long of a break. I think for us sometimes that down time is needed. We're going to try a six week on one off schedule this year, maybe that will help keep us motivated all year.

Last week, we went to review math, and I lost the materials. I hand wrote a math sheet and finally found the books, which we did not use.

If I had to confess everything I want to do and don't, let slide, and after a year go OOPS, we'd all be handing out feather dusters and swiffers at conventions instead of more curriculum. :D

Well, I'll confess I bought the Executive Function workbooks from Linguisystems April 2012 and we're still on lesson 3 ;)
