momto2Cs
I am looking for a story version of Wagner's Ring Cycle to read with my kids (ages 12 and 10). I did find this one, but am seeing what else is out there! Thanks!
SarahW
The Curse of the Ring by Michael Harrison looks good, though it's based more on the norse saga than Wagner. If you don't want a picture book, there is a book by Baldwin, and also this newer version. I think Baldwin mixed in norse sagas. iirc, this version is just the German medieval version that Wagner used, but archive.org is down right now, so I can't double check to be sure. momto2Cs
Thank you! I also just came across Stories of Siegfried Told to the Children, and I put an older book, adapted in 1939 by Richard Lawrence, on hold at the library. I do like the looks of the Baldwin version! duckens
I read this book two decades ago. It was a really good read, but it was 721 pages. The title is Rhinegold. http://www.amazon.com/Rhinegold-Stephen-Grundy/dp/0553095455 As I understand it, it was linked to the old Norse myths. I have no idea if it has a storyline similar to The Ring. The sequel is Attilla's Gold. I haven't read that one.
Kfamily
I have this as part of the my curriculum: The Stories of Wagner's Operas http://archive.org/details/storieswagnersop00wagn
PeterPan
Fiery's book on Opera has a version (obviously very condensed but pretty witty).
Candid
Not totally sure the children will get it, but it is funny. Very old you may need to look up some of her cultural references (the Andrews sisters, and nixie's eat oats).
