Teaching textbooks

So, I decided to step away from traditional, dull saxon and move over to teaching textbooks. Now my question is, I see that they use a computer based program but how does it work? Do the children have a piece of paper with them to come out with the solution, or do you do it all mental? And can you use the workbook with the cds? Sorry if my question is a little confusing!

You can have them work on paper if your trying to cut costs, but we use the workbooks along with the Cd's. They work the problem in the book and plug the answer on the computer. The newer versions are self-grading so it will give the student two attempts to work the problem. The student also can get a step by step breakdown on how to work each problem.

We didn't buy the workbooks, just the CD. He does his work on notebook paper, then puts the answer into the computer. LOVE it!

two of my children us TT and I started out having them use a notebook for writing out problems but now they write in their workbooks.

We use a notebook for working the problems out. I also photocopy the quizzes so they take the computer quiz one day and do the written work the next. I think it reinforces the work plus gives them practice in writing the problems out. Works for us:)

ditto - we just use a notebook where she works the problems then puts them in the computer. Love TT- back to it this year after trying some different stuff that just did not work for us!
