JumpyTheFrog
I bought a reel for my garden hose from Walmart last year for $20. It was a waste of money. Are there any out there that are less work to use then coiling a hose by hand?
WTMCassandra
Not that I've found. We've tried several kinds over the years : (.
Mabeline
I had the same experience. The only thing that worked was a hanging one that worked kind of like the vacuum cord holders. It was easy to coil the hose on and it held it nicely. It even had a small storage space for different hose spouts. Mine was similar to this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Suncast-Deluxe-Hose-Hangout-150-Hose-Hanger/16213355
Ottakee
I have a heavy duty one in my barn that I use for watering the horses. It came from the local farm store so is likely a better quality than the Walmart ones.
GSOchristie
http://www.shedtownusa.com/suncast-hose-hideaway®-hose-reel-with-smart-trak-hose-guidefree-shipping-p-762.html I'm pretty sure this is the one we have. It works great because as it pulls the hose in it guides it back and forth into a neat, tight coil. It also has that little holder for the hose so it doen't get pulled inside by over-zealous children. It is easy enough to crank that my six year old can do it. Good to know that it works, though.
kitten18
We got this one last year and I've been really happy with it. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Suncast-175-ft-Hose-Capacity-Hosemobile-Hose-Reel-Cart-CPLJNF17524/100334893#.UU5KfBzqlQg FWIW - I saw some metal hose reels on the HD website that looked durable. The lady I work for got one similar to that at Walmart because she has arthritis and can't coil it by hand. It works really well, and uses the pressure of the water to pull it back in. My sister has an outdoor sink that I think is made by that same company, it is awesome! It also has that feature that the hose is pulled back in by the water pressure. She got it at Menards. I think we bought it at Lowes or Home Depot for around $80. Money well spent.
