readinmom
Has anyone tried this successfully with their ds or dd? Ds 16 says he wants to try meds but we are reluctant to try this with him. Open to suggestions to anyone who has tried a more natural approach.
Ottakee
You might want to head over to the Learning Challenges board for more help. We use Country Life Omega 3 mood which helps but we still use meds at a lower dose. Other helps are regulating sleep/wake cycles (and dealing with sleep apnea if snoring, etc. is an issue), eating a higher protein, lower carb diet, getting enough physical exercise, and getting enough outside/sunshine time. Some kids also respond to dietary changes---gluten/casein/dye free, etc. That all said, if those changes don't help or help enough you might want to consider medication at this stage (esp. if he is asking for it) while he is still home to have you help monitor effectiveness, side effects, etc. Sadly some kids decide to self medicate in college with some not so positive results.
