Mandylubug
Is there a way to reformat my kindle without it showing all my archived items on amazon.com? I am wanting it more kid friendly to share but I have some books on my history that I don't want them to have access to. How can I go about this? FYI this is a Kindle Touch. TraceyS/FL
There is a way on the Kindle Keyboard and Kindle non-Touch to do an update on the firmware, which adds the ability to lock them out of the archive. I would think you would have it too - you do it on the device. I believe it is the "Enhanced parental controls". TraceyS/FL
Let me add this also let me lock out the browser and the store and just give her a "reader". Imagine that!! It is great - and now I have no qualms with her taking it places!!
Dana
We just got my son a kindle with a completely separate account. It'll also let him have his books as his rather than tied to my account. I haven't played with the parental control features yet, although he knows his will be locked soon. I have the touch. To update my kindle, I had to download the update and then apply it via the usb cable. Before updating it, the parental controls wasn't even an option on mine. blondeviolin
Couldn't you just move the offending books to the archived items and then turn off the wifi?
Plateau Mama
I think the most recent update (that happened this week) allows you to lock them out of the Archives, it also turns off the ability to purchase or use the browser in the Kindle. You can still use your computer to buy or send books to the device.
