Beth in Central TX
Hi Julie, That's my favorite great book list too. As I move into the junior high years, I've also looked at the 101 Great Books Recommended for College-Bound Readers (http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/boost-your-skills/23628.html). Lori D.
Susan Wise Bauer has made some lists available on this website; go to the "Workshops and Handouts" page here: http://www.welltrainedmind.com//convention.php Then click on one of the "Academic Excellence" links, and scroll down into the literature and/or history sections -- esp. for gr. 5-8 and gr. 9-12. That at list will get you started. Other short, good lists are the list of books for each year of high school for some specific curricula: - Sonlight (click on level Level 200, 300, 400 or 530 for booklist you're interested in): http://www.sonlight.com/by-level.html - Ambleside (click on the school year booklist you're interested in): http://www.amblesideonline.org/index2.shtml - Notgrass (scroll down toward bottom of page for list of literature): US Lit: http://www.notgrass.com/american-history-high-school-curriculum.php World Lit: http://www.notgrass.com/world-history-high-school-curriculum.php - Lightning Literature (click on program you're interested in for booklist): http://www.hewitthomeschooling.com/book/blight.asp
