That's my favorite great book list too. As I move into the junior high years, I've also looked at the 101 Great Books Recommended for College-Bound Readers (http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/boost-your-skills/23628.html).

Susan Wise Bauer has made some lists available on this website; go to the "Workshops and Handouts" page here:

Then click on one of the "Academic Excellence" links, and scroll down into the literature and/or history sections -- esp. for gr. 5-8 and gr. 9-12. That at list will get you started.
