AngelBee Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 I have used TOG yr 2 with a 1st grader and year 3 with a Ker and a Wnd grader. This is with older siblings. It is kind of expensive unless you are looking to commit long term. I can maybe do up a week to give u an example. You have to add in your own science and math. Also language arts like spelling. weederberries Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 We tried TOG for our 2nd grade year and I found it overwhelming for myself. It was just too much for me to wade through for such a young level. We'll revisit it again in the logic grades. I love the concept, but just thought it was too much for the young kids and for ME. ByGrace3 Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 I think Ancients was kind of heavy for first, unless it was an exceptional situation with a super advanced Ker who absolutely was begging for more history, or a k tagging along with an older sibling, I would wait to start in first. Amy M Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 I read some of their selections to my early 1st grader (turns 6 in April) as we go through SOTW, and they were a bit too long and wordy for us at that age. Hedgehogs4 Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 unless there are older siblings, I would not start TOG until upper grammar stage at least, or even dialectic. My 2nd grader does TOG with my dialectic son, but if I were only doing her track I feel it would be a waste of my money.
