MinivanMom
I would recommend somewhere between 4th and 7th grade depending on the interests of the girl.
poiema
Do you mean as a read aloud or for the child to read? My boys loved Anne of Green Gables when I read it to them last year. They were 4 & 6 at the time.
UrbanSue
For reading to oneself? I would probably say middle school and up.
HLDoll
I think I first met and fell in love with Anne when I was 10. I never did manage to make it all the way through Little Women until I was an adult. My son read the first Anne book at age 8, and listened to the first three as audiobooks from the library. He really enjoyed them. My daughter enjoyed listening also at age 7. They both read abridged versions of Little Women and liked it. I hope they'll go on to read it in full sometime later. Dory
I had read through the entire Anne series by the time I was 9. Little Women was a little later, I think I was 12. My dd has just started on the first Anne book.
Chrysalis Academy
My dd read the first Anne book when she was 9, but hasn't tackled the rest yet. She started the second, but bogged down. I'm sure she'll come back to them when she's older. We're going to read Little Women together this spring, I think (she's 10). If it doesn't catch on, we can wait till later. Walking-Iris
About 4th grade and up
Candid
Anne of Green Gables Little Women Both are late elementary early middle school to me. It does depend on the child and their reading skill if they are going to read them. I did both in elementary but I also read The Grapes of Wrath and The Fountainhead in seventh (no, I really don't know what my parents were thinking, I think they weren't paying attention). Neige
I would say 2nd grade or thereabouts, for a strong reader. I remember devouring them around then. For a read-aloud or audiobook, though, you could do then anytime from age 4 or up I think.
