caelia
We are currently studying Ancient Rome and I am aware of the list of corresponding Netflix/SOTW movies and documentaries. The problem I am having is knowing if they are age appropriate for my 3rd and 5th graders. Is anyone aware of a list that breaks it down by age/grade level? I've found several documentaries at our library, but they are mostly for 7th grade and up. We did watch the Ancient Civilizations one with Arizona Smith (our library has those for many of the time periods we've studied so far), but I'm looking for more. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'd also love to hear of any other Rome resources that you really loved for this age level. We're just getting started. Aurelia
I don't have any lists, but DD really loved the BBC's Pompeii and Gladiator videos.
JennyCook
There is a list of corresponding Netflix/SOTW movies? That's awesome! Where is it? How do I find it? I was just gonna start a post and ask if anyone had some suggestions for me for good docos on Netflix, preferably ones that don't put my kiddos to sleep. :)
Rident_Mama
Not sure about your stance on Christianity, but Drive Thru History (available on Netflix) has at least one good episode on the Roman Empire (there are two available on Netflix for Ancient Rome, but we have only seen the first one). Paula in MS
Not sure about your stance on Christianity, but Drive Thru History (available on Netflix) has at least one good episode on the Roman Empire (there are two available on Netflix for Ancient Rome, but we have only seen the first one). I totally agree here. The great thing is that they are short enough to hold their attention. :)

Hunter
My library has recently gotten in some new DVDs, but I have found little online about them. Inspector Gadget Field Trip Kid's Animated History with Pipo. I've seen the Egypt episodes but not much else. They were quite good I thought.
David Macauley's Roman City video is age appropriate, contains a lot of great material, and I think you can view the whole thing on youtube.
