Renthead Mommy
I'm making mulit bean soup. If I don't have any ham or ham bone, can I use some chicken broth to give it more flavor? Or will the chickenbroth and beans be strange together?
xixstar
Chicken broth will be just fine. :) I've been known to do both chicken broth and a ham bone, mainly because broth is just awesome. :)
Renthead Mommy
Excellent. I figured I'd better check. My cooking skills have never been known for their greatness, and they seem gone downhill the last few years simply from lack of use.
unsinkable
Do you have smoked sausage? Or Bacon? Pork products=good bean soup!
Renthead Mommy
Do you have smoked sausage? Or Bacon? Pork products=good bean soup! Sausage sounds good! I was trying to keep this batch meat free because after tonight I"m the only one that will eat it. I was making pork chops for tonight and then saw the bean mix at the cute little market we go to sometimes on Mondays. I admit I got sucked in by pretty colors and the way they were layered in the container! LOL! But so it was just a side for tonight and then a main meal for breakfast/lunches for me. But that sausage idea sounds really yummy!
dbmamaz
i used to be a vegetarian - most bean soups got carrots, onions, garlic - LOTS of garlic. Some bullion would be good, i'm sure. bay leaves.
