sheryl
Hey Michiganders! DD and I are visiting family and about to make quite a whirlwind tour. Leaving Charlotte, we'll visit my Dad in central Ohio (hi OhElizabeth!), travel to Michigan and back down to Columbus, Ohio area before we drive back to NC. I'd like to know the best/quickest route from Royal Oak to Columbus. It's been over 20 years since my DH and I moved from MI to NC and I do not remember much. Rt 39 and 24 - are these good roads or is start/stop like Woodward Rt. 696 to 275 to get to 75/23 - this seems like it's waaaaaaaay out of the way. I need to end up on 75/23 south. So, which route is best to take. I'd like the quickest/shortest, but I know those don't always coincide. THANKS!!
*********
I'd just get on 75 there in Royal Oak, either the 12 Mile or 14 Mile entrances. That'd be easiest. (We're in Rochester Hills, dh works in Troy, and the stepkids live in Royal Oak. :seeya: )
thescrappyhomeschooler
I used to drive from Columbus to Bowling Green a long, long time ago (grad school days), and I think I went down 75 to somewhere around Findlay, then went 23 S the rest of the way. ETA: I mean from B. G. to Columbus!
sheryl
Bethany, I know that makes sense in terms of direction, but 12 mile is so busy - starting and stopping tons of time will add time to our trip. Does 12 mile go by another name? Thanks, Scrappy. I do remember how to drive from Toledo to Rt. 23, but it's getting from RO, MI to 75 that I'm unsure. mumto2
In Royal Oak I would take Woodward to 696 to 75. I think the turn off is around Findley for Columbus too. We lived at 15 and Woodward for almost 15 years. Either Woodward or 14 quickest.IMO
