Bang!Zoom!
Anyone have stored quality links/sites for Civil War or Southern History era - 1800-1900?
Sebastian (a lady)
We really liked the Teaching Company series on the war.
Stuart
We have the Civil War series from the History Channel (Ken Burns). I also have this page bookmark but we haven't used it yet. http://www.civilwar.org/education/teachers/curriculum/

Bang!Zoom!
I ran across this tonight while gathering up "stuff" - excellent. Transatlantic Slave Trade Database. http://www.slavevoyages.org/tast/index.faces
Sebastian (a lady)
If you dig around on the sites for the battlefields there are good teacher resources at the NPS websites. There are some Civil War activities on the nps Webranger site. The National Archive has some document based lessons for the civil war. Bang!Zoom!
That sounds great Sebastian, she'll need to work with some primary sources - I'll go chasing those today. Terrific! Thanks!
Catherine
Another helpful set of primary sources is these declarations of secession from four states: Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas. http://sunsite.utk.edu/civil-war/reasons.html There are many helpful sites out there with documents to study: Lincoln's speeches for example. Lily_Grace
If you have an Ipad/Ipod there's an app called Civil War Today. It's a "newspaper" that comes out daily with interactive stories - counting the casualties, links to letters and diary entries written by various people, articles about the battles, and any other news that's going on in the country.
