TraciWA
My ds16 is interested in learning photography. I am wondering if there are any online resources that the hive might know of? :bigear:
GSOchristie
I don't know about online, but my dh (professional photographer) started by seeking out a photographer in the area and asking him to be an apprentice. He did the guy's grunt work, carried his bags, set up his lights, etc, and gained tons of experience, and a hefty portfolio. The guy let him sit in on some editing sessions and helped him learn a workflow from camera to finished product, what software he needed, ins and outs of beastly photoshop. He says this guy advanced him by 5-7 years of what he could have learned on his own. My dh now takes on someone to help every year or so. Stayseeliz
The ilovephotography boards are a good place to start but they are brutal! Sign up for livingsocial and groupon and they have photgraphy classes that pop up all the time. Many of them are online. Creativelive is a good resource too! TraciWA
This 12 week program is available in pdf and totally free. It explains the basics in ways that are easy to understand. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/cg_list.asp?archive=true&t=55&year=2008&x=25&y=1 Thanks a bunch! lailasmum
There are quite a lot on the net, I always see them linked off pinterest but I would also recommend any of John Hedgecoe's photography course books. They are so good, John Hedgecoe's complete photography course seems to be the most complete and they are so cheap second hand.
