Please tell me about Sonlight Core F (Eastern Hemisphere)

We are familiar with Sonlight; we've used Cores K and the first part of American History.

 

I totally messed up on history this year.... so now I'm looking at Sonlight again, specifically the Eastern Hemisphere core.

 

How easy/difficult would it be to secularize this core? Is it very mission oriented?

OP, Calandalsmom has put together a secular Eastern Hemi plan. I don't know if she'll share it, but it's worth a shot.

I wouldn't mind seeing a secular plan for this Core either. I skipped this Core with oldest, but I may have Dd do it, if I can find a way to make it NOT so mission minded...that's just not our thing.

The Girl Who Loved Caterpillars, How My Parents Learned to Eat, Tea with Milk, This Place is Crowded (all picture books, but well worth it); The Samurai's Tale & The Boy and The Samurai (*really good*, 16th century), Mieko and the Fifth Treasure (post atom bomb), Kazunomiya-Prisoner of Heaven (Royal Diaries, Princess at the time just after Perry arrived in Japan)

 

Korea - A Single Shard (Newberry winner, 12th Century), Seesaw Girl (17th century, girls were completely restricted to the "Inner Court" of the house), Sondok-Princess of the Moon & Stars (Royal Diaries, late 6th century, actually ruled Korea as Queen, was an astronomer. Lots about Shamanism, Buddism & Confucianism which were all three in Korea at that time.)

 

On Korea, I also read Tales from the Bamboo Grove and When my name was Keoko, but have not had my children read them. If your son is really into WWII era (mine are not), both would be good.
