gratefulmother
We have been in our school routine for 2 weeks now, and I have noticed something that is a persistent problem. My kids like to talk a lot! In a classroom they would obey and sit down and do their work quietly, but because we have a relationship they feel like they need to tell me ALL kinds of random things while they are working. I am thankful for our good relationship and know this is part of the blessing of homeschooling, but it is out of proportion and is REALLY slowing us down. I have tried talking to them about it and hurrying them along, but having never been in school and experienced that "down to work" atmosphere, they just don't get it. Has anyone established any ground rules as far as this goes or have any suggestions! Now that they are in 3rd and 6th grades the workload is such that we have to make a change. Thanks so much ahead of time!
jhschool
Sorry, no suggestions. I am often the one starting the chatting and interrupting DC's studying.
