Harry Potter Writing Prompts?

Does anything like this already exist? I know there's a Hogwarts Correspondence School thing on Yahoo Groups, and I haven't searched the MASSIVE amount of threads on the million groups they have  (exaggerated, I know...but seriously, there's a TON of stuff on those boards!)

I'd also be interested in other 'favorite novel' writing prompts! Harry Potter is a favorite right now, so I just have it in mind for now, but I am sure there are other great ones too!!

ETA: A quick Google gave me these...

My daughter really loves writing "essays" and "homework" as if she's a Hogwarts student. Just like Harry, she gets an assignment to produce an essay a certain number of inches long. Recent topics include:

- Explain different ways of protecting yourself from Death Eaters. (Defense Against the Dark Arts)

- Tell how Muggles treat sickness and injuries without using magic. (Muggle Studies)

- List and interpret the dreams you have had this week. (Divination)

I should add that she asks me to make these assignments up; it's not part of school for us.

LOVE that!!! Have you (or she) just been making them up as you go? I really need to go digging in the HCS groups and get some more ideas...I was just hoping there was something already out there :tongue_smilie: I LOVE your ideas!!

She asks us to assign them, and we make them up. Sometimes she will specify the subject. The books frequently mention assignments that Harry and his friends get, so you could pull them right out of the text if your child wouldn't mind fabricating a lot of details.

This is the kind of thing Alex writes:

how muggles treat illnesses and injuries without magic.

for injuries muggles use stiches, witch means you sew the skin together. (it probly hurts!)

For sicknesses muggles have somethig called medicine that you drink and then you stop Being sick. (medicine is like a potion without any magic ingeridents.)
