bethben
I like the looks of Discovering Mathematics. I like that geometry is integrated into each year. What I don't like is the lack of constant review. Ds really needed more of that when he completed the Elementary Singapore Math series. He had forgotten some things he learned in previous levels when he got to upper levels. How do you solve the need for constant review in this program? Crimson Wife
My DD is using DM1 with Horizons Pre-Algebra for that reason. I am trying to spread out pre-algebra over 2 years, however.
Trez
I had the textbook, workbook, and the question bank. At the end of each section, I would take questions from the question bank which covered all of the units he covered previously (essentially making up my own cummulative "test"). Momling
My daughter is working from SM 6b this semester, not DM. But I do also have her do one page of Math Minutes before each lesson. It's a quick and painless review of topics she's already done. It's not aligned with SM, but it doesn't matter as it is just a brief review of arithmetic and pre algebra topics. They put out books up to 8th grade level.
bethben
Which math minutes are you doing right now? I can't figure out if I should get a 7th grade or 8th grade math minutes. That looks like what I need. Beth
