TammyS
Two: Harvey's Guide to Elementary Grammar (this is a verrry old text, but really good, I think to keep as a reference because it's direct and to the point, also it's very slim....you don't need it, but if you want to practice from it there are also workbooks available now) Rex Barks: A Guide to Diagramming....the absolute best guide to diagramming I have ever seen (and I've been through a few). If you use those two books, you will have rock-solid grammar.

Candid
I'd also suggest Eats, Shoots and Leaves. BUT a lot depends on what you want to do. Rex Barks is great for diagramming and learning what the terms for various jobs words can do in sentences are. The book I suggest is great for proof reading and learning how to punctuate. And so forth.
SailorMom
Not texts - but can work for studying concepts- Strunk and White's The Elements of Style (Illustrated) is great - handy reference and the captions on the art can be pretty humorous.... My other favorite is Woe is I by O'Conner.
