RainbowSprinkles
I've been trying to buy mostly organic produce, dairy, and meat when I can. I'd like to start baking our own breads soon. I'm wondering if there is a point in buying organic pastas and such? Or is it best to just buy whole grain pastas and not worry about it being organic? Or maple syrup, which we love, should we buy organic or is non-organic ok for this? Anyone have any informational links?
Dory
I don't even like buying organic per say anymore as it's just a label and there are a few things allowed that I don't really agree with. If you are concerned about your pasta, perhaps you could learn how to make some of your own. It freezes well and keeps for awhile that way so you can make one large batch at a time. Otherwise I would just buy whole grain pasta. As for maple syrup, I'm not really sure what the difference between the two would be. My maple trees don't require a lot more than pruning and the sap is just reduced.
ChristyB in TN
I don't see organic pasta as necessary, nor maple syrup. I think it is important to buy strawberries, broccoli, blueberries, coffee, carrots...I will think of more. I try to stick with things that I don't peel. Coffee is important because it gets sprayed like crazy. I don't buy organic bananas, pastas or maple syrup.

I'm just trying to save my sanity while also saving some money. :tongue_smilie: I do want wholesome foods without pesticides and whatnots so I'm trying to figure this all out. :)
BeckyFL
Since maple syrup (the real stuff) is from the sap of maple trees, the majority is from forests that should not include pesticides. Better to spend your money of the "dirty dozen". By the way, there is an app for that. lol
