Sarahkay
We've used SWO 2-3 days a week. My kids are readers so I think that makes them decent spellers. Rather than buy the next SWO books, I'm wondering if I can go on the cheap. Any suggestions for free/cheap spelling curric? Thanks!

5LittleMonkeys
Splashes in the River Zaner Bloser. These are meant as extra practice at home but they can easily be used as a base that you add a bit of instruction and additional practice to. Don't miss Spelling City or, what we loaded our ZB lists into, BigIQ Kids.
5LittleMonkeys
Oh, I forgot about Basic Speller on the CK12 website! It's in the 3rd column.
Hunter
Making Spelling Words Stick is on sale for $1. I've been using some of these ideas with the spelling/vocabulary words in the McGuffey's Eclectic readers. The Primer through the middle of Book 3 are supposed to be spelling words, and then transition to vocabulary words. babysparkler
Not free, but Spelling Power is one book for grades 3-12 (that link is the 3rd edition we have. There is a 4th edition, but that is more expensive). My kids love it... simple and straightforward, and they only have to practice the words they DON'T know, not the ones they know.... that is their favorite part of the program :) The used one is about $15 and can be used over and over again.
