Joni Eareckson Tada

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend which book would be the best for my dd to read about her life? I found several different books on her life or written by her. I have no idea which book would be the best one to choose. There is one written by Kathleen White and another called Joni Eareckson Tada: Her Story--one of these two seems the most likely choice, but then again, I'm uncertain.

I think "Her Story" is a combo of 3 books. The one I usually give as a gift is the first one, Joni, and it's by her:

I've never looked at the one in the Women of Faith series.

As a follow-up, it's also nice to hear Joni speak, or sing. She is or was on Christian radio, and you can find her on YouTube. She also has a few books of hymns with CDs that I think are nice.

I heartily recommend "Joni", her autobiography that covers her childhood, accident and recovery. She's written many other books, but this was her first. It made a big impression on me as a young teen.

She also starred in a Billy Graham-type movie about it.

She blogs on her organization's website, if you want to see what she's doing now. (Breast Cancer Survivor, now for more than a year.)

A well-lived life!

:iagree: I met her when I was a teen at a showing of the Billy Graham movie. That also made a huge impression on me. It wasn't a personal meeting - she spoke to the group (my boarding school) and then was by the door for us to talk to as we filed out, but seeing her in person and the force of her personality is what impressed me.
