Jean in Newcastle
I don't go on facebook (where I think it started) but I do go on Sparkspeople where I will put in a daily "status". So if I put "Jean is sick today" and someone "likes" it, should I be insulted? Or is that some kind of an "I hear you" signal?
UnsinkableKristen
It's probably more of an "I hear you", although personally I try not to 'like' negative statuses to avoid this very situation :)
LaxMom
How very odd. :001_huh:
Osmosis Mom
You are pressing Like to the sentiment in the status. As someone presses Like, then that status goes into that person's newsfeed so it is also a way to spread messages around.
thescrappyhomeschooler
Yeah, the Like button doesn't really apply to every situation, so I think people click on it just to sympathize with your status.
BigMamaBird
It can mean support, acknowledgment, commiseration, approval, lots of different stuff. If I ask a question in a group and someone answers, I "Like" it so they can see I received their answer.
melissad2
If you "like" a post you also get notifications that someone else posted a reply or the OP gave an update.
Jean in Newcastle
Thanks everyone. I didn't think it could mean that they really liked it if someone was sick!
