I'm pretty sure some one answered this once before, but I can't seem to find it...

What is the difference between Campbell & Reece Biology and Campbell's Biology Concepts & Connections? Is it grade level or content?

And if you know, what are the major differences between Campbell and Miller & Levine?

My son is using the Biology 101 DVDs and just wants supplementary textbook reading.

Thanks so much!

Janice is right. Biology is AP level, Concepts and Connections is a solid high school text, often used for honors biology courses.

I'll add Miller Levine is very similar in content to Concepts and Connections. I compared them side by side for many hours. I indexed the TOC's compared coverage of various subjects. The content is very similar, but the presentation is very different. Concepts and Connections is a straight read. It is two columns (at least the edition I was looking at) that fill the whole page. Not tons of pictures, pullouts, mini labs etc. Miller Levine has two narrower columns with constant side notes, mini labs, extras pictures, diagrams. Some people find that style distracting and hard to read, we find it holds our attention well. It is personal preference.

Ds and I both preferred M/L after reading and comparing, but I don't think it was better or worse, just different. If I had been looking for AP level, I'd have gone with Campbell Biology.
