mo2
We will be starting SWI-A soon. How many 1-hour sessions per week should I plan on?
amyrjoy
I know for the theme-based program (LEVEL A) I've used with my DD this year, we use it 3-4 days a week, about 30 minutes or so each day. HTH.
ondreeuh
I have the same question, so I'm giving you a "bump." From the sample, it looks like the first day could be up to 45 min of DVD instruction, and then the rest of the week (the other 3-4 days) it could take as little as 20 minutes. Depends on how much your child struggles.
mo2
Thanks for responding. So maybe 45 mins 4 days a week would be good for a reluctant writer?
amyrjoy
That sounds good to me. We do another writing program as well, so that's why we haven't spent more than 30 minutes or so with IEW. Next year, for 4th grade, we'll step it up a bit. I think your plan sounds great. :)

mommyto4
It is scheduled for 16 weeks, doing writing four times a week. Some days are longer, but it usually takes 25 to 45 minutes. If a day is taking longer, you can just finish it up the next day. I would think that a struggling writer would take longer than 16 weeks to finish it. Joyofsixreboot
I don't know how you "should" do it but we've been this doing for SWI A Mon-instruction Tue thru Thu-writing-maybe 20 min/day Fri-edit and type
