JenMama
Hi there, We're looking for a great language arts program for our daughter. She's been in public school from K-6. We're pulling her out to homeschool for 7-8. We haven't decided whether she'll be in public school or homeschooled in high school yet. We'd prefer secular materials. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance. :001_smile:

SuperDad
What are her skills thus far? Are you leaning more towards workbooky or hands-on/living books?
JenMama
Thank you, Mandy. I'll check those out! SuperDad, She happily reads anything and everything around her. She has virtually no grammar or writing skills. I'm looking for something really solid.
Momling
In your place, I'd look into Lightning literature 7 and Writing with skill
Murrayshire
Though I love the WWS theory, we are using WWE for my middle dd, when I pulled my dd out of public school for 6th grade we started WWS and she was lost. She is a strong writer and reader but she just couldn't grasp the concept after being taught so differently in PS. So we went with Hake Grammar 6 and Winning With Writing 6. She is not so keen on the grammar but loves winning with writing. For 7th I've ordered analytical grammar, essentials in writing(don't mistake with IEW), lightening literature 7(looking for a used set!), and possibly mega words. He is weak on spelling and writing.
didadeewiththree
After pulling my son from public school last year, we found Shurley English to be a good fit for grammar/some writing/vocab. Its also teacher scripted so its easy to get out and do. Also, its very thorough in the grammar dept.
