She reads daily with us and we read to her but she has never just sat down and read a book completely on her own, unprompted. Yesterday she asked me to read her "Go, Dog, Go" but I was busy and I told her I would a bit later. A few minutes later I heard her reading it, without any prompting, all by herself! Then, after she was done with that book she read another book (Green Eggs and Ham), all by herself!! I was so excited. I mean, I know she can read, but it was so cool to see her read because she wanted to, not because we were telling her!!!
