HappyGrace
Trying to plan a grammar progression from here and wondered what others have done. Dd 6th grade is using R+S 7 this yr-she is adept at grammar, although this is only her 2nd yr diagramming-it's coming very very easily to her. We don't want to use R+S 8 next yr. Would AG be a good fit, or too much review after R+S? I was thinking of having her do AG all in one year, and then call it done with grammar except maybe get their review/reinforcement book to do in perhaps 9th grade. When are we done with grammar? How do we know? What did you do?
Gwen in VA
We declared ourselves done after R&S 8. After that point my kids have picked up the finer points of grammar on a need-to-know basis as issues have come up in their writing. Reviewing for the PSAT and SAT using prep books has also served as a useful review of grammar and usage.
bugs
We declared ourselves done after R&S 8. :iagree: But then I assign "review" type workbooks that take less than 30 minutes per week. So far I like the Stewart English Program.

mom31257
Dh gives the SAT at his school, and he says there seems to be quite a bit of grammar on the test. I think you should definitely keep doing some kind of review. I'm using CLE English 1 (first half) this year and will use the last half of it next year. I've not decided where to go after that, but I will be using grammar review workbooks until she takes the last test.
