Lawana
Included under the Patients' Responsibilities section of a prominantly displayed Patients' Rights and Responsibilities declaration: "Be aware that your right to be involved in your plan of care does not include receiving medically unnecessary treatment." Help me out here. I have no idea what they are actually trying to say.
*********
Sounds to me like they're saying, "Yes, you're in charge of your care. Unless we disagree with you, in which case, we will not provide you with care WE determine to be medically unnecessary." My best guess, at least. justasque
If the docs think you have food poisoning, and you think you have appendicitis, the docs aren't going to take out your appendix, no matter how much you want them to.
SunD
You can refuse treatment that they recommend, but you can't demand an alternative that you prefer.
Stages
If you are 35 weeks pregnant and want to be induced because you're uncomfortable (but no medical reason), you're out of luck.
Lawana
:blushing:Okay, guys, was it really that obvious? I must have been way overthinking it. At least tell me it could have been worded better.
justasque
:blushing:Okay, guys, was it really that obvious? Oh no, it wasn't obvious at all. I'm just used to "translating" that kind of thing, so I chimed in. ;)
